Planning and development

While it can be a very dry topic, the CWWPA pays particular attention to the changing planning and development rules and regulations because of the impact they can have on our homes, suburbs, green open space, sportsfields and local commercial and retail centres.

By joining the CWWPA, you can keep abreast of the changes which will impact you and your family.

For example, consider the diagram below – prepared by our Treasurer, Andrew Nelson – which depicts the many, large development sites proposed for the Chatswood CBD as of 4 April 2023.  Clearly, these developments, enabled under the current planning system, will contribute a large number of resident and service vehicles to the already congested CBD area.

Legally, the traffic emanating from each development site is able to be considered in isolation from nearby or even next door developments.  Council relies on an earlier traffic planning report, which the CWWPA believes is faulty, to support the assertion that there is no problem with adding more and more traffic to our local roads.  Those of us who traverse the roads daily would beg to differ.
